FAQ

What is a holistic nutritionist?

A holistic nutritionist undertakes a natural approach to health and takes into account many factors that affect your health. It’s important to ensure that you look good and feel good from the inside out.

In order to do that we have to take a look at your health history, specific goals, lifestyle, current eating habits, food preferences, tendencies, cravings, budget and so on. Only then we can get to the root of the problem and set the stage for long-term success.

What is the difference between a nutritionist and dietitian?

Please keep in mind that not all nutritionists are the same, as the term is not regulated. I’m a registered holistic nutritionist (B.A., R.H.N.).

A registered holistic nutritionist (RHN) is a professional trained by the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition. A holistic nutritionist often works one-on-one with clients, catering to each individual and creating a meal plan specific to his or her lifestyle and goals. As a result, he or she may effectively help you by taking a multi-faceted approach based on your food sensitivities, diet, needs, budget, etc.

A dietitian is a regulated term and a reputable degree. Dietitians often work with policy makers and institutions. Generally speaking, they tend to follow the Canadian Food Guide to help you reach your goals, although this can vary.

The bottom line is that both, a registered holistic nutritionist and a dietitian, can help you achieve your goal. It’s important to find a practitioner who is the most qualified to help you get to the root of your specific, individual problem.

Why do you charge the prices you charge?

Good question.

My prices are competitive and quite reasonable considering the years of experience, research, education and value that is offered.

My packaged session and the accompanying meal plans are highly personalized and built from scratch (no generic, cookie-cutter approach here). Please keep in mind that assembling a customized meal plan is time consuming and for this reason many nutritionists do not offer them. I, on the other hand, feel that a meal plan is enormously important and can successfully guide you in reaching your specific goal(s).

In addition, the meal plans are accompanied by support (in times of uncertainty), whereby you can bring a list of questions to each session and obtain answers, so you can get the most value for your money and maximize the chances of getting the desired results.

I also provide numerous recommendations, suggestions, updates, visual guidelines (serving sizes, alcohol, how to read a food label, weight loss–all unique) and access to healthy recipes. Paying attention to small details throughout the process, making ongoing adjustments, also differentiates me from many of my competitors.

Please feel free to take a look at the Reviews page, where many of my former clients share their stories, to learn more about the value that my packaged sessions bring.

Why do you offer packaged sessions?

Packaged sessions ensure that you receive the support you need to reach your goal(s). Most people feel the need to have more ongoing support during which they can ask various questions during counseling sessions, receive numerous tips and feedback, perhaps modify or tweak the meal plan, address accompanying symptoms, and so on. Sustained help simply maximizes the chances of success. Besides, a multi-session package brings better value.

Are you covered by insurance?

I am registered holistic nutritionist (R.H.N.) who is covered by many insurance plans. Please check with your insurance provider to see if you have nutritionist coverage as part of your benefits. Many of my clients have nutritionist coverage. Please note: I am not a dietitian. I am not a naturopath (ND).

I can retrieve nutritional information and diets online. Why should I pay to come see you?

Nowadays, an overwhelming amount of information about nutrition is found on the internet. A registered holistic nutritionist will sort through the confusion and conflicting information, and present you with the ideal plan suitable just for you.

Not everyone who offers advice online is registered or qualified. Many contributors may offer advice from their personal experience, which does not necessarily mean that their approach will work for you.

Working with a registered professional will help you debunk various myths, offer you years of expertise, the most current information, easy access to a number of valuable resources, recommendations and accountability.

How long will it take for me to see results?

This depends on your goal and how well you adhere to the counsel you receive.

Results cannot be guaranteed, but rest assured that anyone who follows my recommendations notices positive changes after the 1st week. Examples of feedback from my customers are: “I feel lighter; I have more energy, especially in the afternoon; my sugar cravings are subdued or more controlled and my clothes feel more comfortable.”

Digestion and other health ailments may take a little longer as these are more serious and complicated conditions.

What if my schedule is too busy or I live out of town/country, can I still enlist your help?

Definitely! Although I am a Toronto nutritionist, we can arrange a phone session, a Skype call or Face Time. We can follow up via email as well. More and more customers conduct their sessions via these means.

I am not sure if I’d want to commit right away. Do I have time to decide?

Certainly. If you’re like me, you probably need to chat, get a feel for the person and talk things out to see if you’re comfortable with proceeding, either in person, by phone or via email. This is where the free, no-obligation phone consultation comes in. We move on only when you feel comfortable.

I don’t know how to cook and/or I don’t want to cook. Can you still help me?

Absolutely. I will construct your meal plan based on your budget, lifestyle, goals, sensitivities and taste preferences that will help you make smarter and healthier choices when eating out or on-the-go. I can also provide access to simple recipes and ideas, if you do decide to cook.

Can I still eat out and drink alcohol on your plan?

Yes. Everything is in moderation. The more closely you adhere to the plan, the quicker you will reach the desired goal. Realistically speaking, not everyone is willing to give up all of their vices or life’s pleasures. We will definitely find a reasonable compromise and devise a plan accordingly.

I also encourage you to take a look at my blog where I have written about how to select alcohol and what type, and still meet your health and wellness goals.

How can I learn more about you?

To learn more about me, my approach or how I can help you, I encourage you to take a look at the About page. You can also take a look at or follow me on my social media pages to gain further insight.
