Ruth Burrowes, BA Hons, BSc, MScFN, RD
Ruth completed her Bachelor of Science in nutrition & dietetics and a Master’s in Nutrition at the University of Western Ontario. Her accredited dietetic internship included placements at Kingston General Hospital, Brockville General Hospital, Ottawa Public Health, and Carleton University Food Services. Before becoming a dietitian,
Ruth also completed a Bachelor of Arts Honours Specialization in Human Kinetics from the University of Ottawa, including a semester abroad at the renowned Norwegian School of Sports Sciences. She is registered with the College of Dietitians of Alberta and is a proud member of the Dietitians of Canada.
History
Calgary dietitian and resident, as well as sports nutritionist, Ruth, blends exercise science and evidence-based nutrition to help her clients thrive—from peak performance to disease prevention and healthy aging. As a former varsity runner, she champions strength as preventive medicine and is passionate about translating research on metabolism, hormonal shifts, and longevity into actionable guidance.
She has also had success supporting clients in improving symptom management for a variety of gastrointestinal disorders (IBS, IBD, GERD) using non-restrictive nutrition therapies that prioritize variety and enjoyment.
Her approach is practical, personalized, and rooted in helping clients create lasting habits without rigid rules. As a strong advocate for fostering a positive relationship with food, Ruth helps clients optimize their nutrition while keeping things fun.
Ruth always endeavours to meet clients where they’re at—whether that’s supporting a competitive athlete, guiding someone through the menopause transition, or building sustainable nutrition strategies for long-term wellness.
