Qualifications

Mantala Milembamane, MScFN, RD

Mantala completed her dietetic internship and obtained her Master’s Degree in Food and Nutrition from Western University in 2023. During this time, she also completed a major research project: a systematic review and meta-analysis investigating the association between maternal eating disorders and adverse birth outcomes.

She is a registered dietitian with the College of Dietitians of Ontario and is a member of Dietitians of Canada.

History

After completing her studies, Mantala worked in a Community Health Centre (CHC) in Northern Ontario, where she provided nutritional counseling  for chronic disease management. There, she encountered real-life examples of the role that social determinants of health play in nutrition-related decision-making.

Afterwards, she returned to her hometown of Ottawa to embark on a new adventure: entering into the world of pediatric nutrition, where she provided support to young patients with cystic fibrosis and infectious diseases.

Mantala’s mission as a dietitian has always been to help clients build confidence and self-efficacy in making nutrition-related decisions from home. She is an empathetic and detail-oriented practitioner who finds great reward in seeing all of her clients thrive. She has worked with people of various ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds and uses an individualized approach to provide solutions that are realistic and achievable for each client. She is passionate about education and enjoys making nutrition simple for everyone to understand.

Having grown up with a mother who immigrated to Canada from Sub-Saharan Africa, Mantala has a deep understanding and appreciation for the role that traditional cultural foods play in individuals’ lives. In her spare time, Mantala enjoys reading, writing, spending time with family and friends, dancing, and outdoor activities.
